Help your contacts classify you as a “Safe Sender”

Don’t let your email wind up in a “junk” folder.

Concerned about your email campaign getting unintentionally stuck in a junk mail filter? You can help to avoid this by providing your contacts with instructions on how to add your email to their list of safe senders (also known as “unblocking” or sometimes referred to as “whitelisting” instructions.)

When bad things happen to good email.

Providers do the best they can to keep spam out, but sometimes the systems they use mistakenly catch good mail along with it. Despite your best efforts to make your campaigns inbox-friendly, (and our constant efforts to keep everyone on the good side of ISPs), sometimes emails are mistakenly caught in a ‘potential spam’ filter, or hidden away in a junk mail or “clutter” folder. Giving your contacts unblocking or “whitelisting” instructions can improve deliverability and reduce the chance of your email getting unnecessarily flagged as “junk.”

How can you provide instructions to your contacts?

We’ve created a simple link that you can give out, which lists instructions on how to “unblock” or “whitelist” your email with a wide variety of email services. The link is…

If someone is not receiving your emails and you suspect your address has been blocked, you can provide that link to them over the phone, or from another email address (one that is not blocked.)

For good measure, we recommend adding a simple link to these instructions at the bottom of all your emails. You may want to do that with a comment such as…

You are receiving this email as a client of [Your Name or Company Name].
Please CLICK HERE to ensure you always see emails from [Me, Us].

… OR…

You are receiving this email because you subscribed to [Name of Mailing List] mailing list.
Please CLICK HERE to ensure you always see these emails.

This is a great way to help your contacts take preemptive measures to ensure your emails always make it to them, without delay.
